Hello, I am Place A+D.
Based in Melbourne’s Inner West, Place A+Design is a small practice specialising in residential architecture and interiors.
Led by Christopher Hewson—a registered architect and expert Japanese tour guide—the studio has been crafting modern, functional spaces since 2012. He finds his greatest inspiration in the challenge of transformation, focusing on thoughtful alterations and additions to a variety of family homes, apartment and early modernist homes across the inner city.
He recognises that many people want to improve their much-loved homes without the 'big spend' price tag, offering a middle ground for those who aren't ready to sell but need their space to work better.
His approach focuses on high-impact areas: creating bespoke kitchens, elevated bathrooms, and seamless laundries. Where budget permits, Place A+D specialise in integrating master ensuites and small additions that bring a sense of retreat to existing floorplans
